Padmadhāriṇī (पद्मधारिणी)

Padmadhāriṇī means “the bearer of the lotus.” This series draws from Chintz textile’s ornate floral compositions, where the lotus once signified luxury and natural abundance. It experiments with colour, scale, and pixel enlargement to reframe Chintz’s decorative symmetry. Here, colours are interchanged, motifs are expanded, yet the lotus remains a visual anchor: a presence that holds its symbolic weight even as its outlines dissolve into abstraction.
