Padmālaṅkāra (पद्मालङ्कार)

The term Padmālaṅkāra translates to “adornment with lotuses.” This series draws from Kantha embroidery, where the lotus signifies prosperity and divine femininity, often associated with Goddess Lakshmi. It explores the act of ornamentation through experiments with hand crochet, colour modulation, and shifts in pixel scale. Crochet grids become analogues for digital pixels, bridging traditional tactile and coded systems. This series retains that symbolism while expanding it, treating the lotus as a structural and conceptual ornament that connects handcraft with contemporary abstraction.
